Ambrosiaster, In Epistolam Beati Pauli Ad Timotheum Secundum, Caput I Source: Migne PL 17.487b | He who destroyed death and illuminated life with eternity through the Gospel in which I am established as a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the nations. 1 By saying that He destroyed death he shows how Christ saved His people from death which was the enemy of man, lest he should rise up from the infernal regions. Then at last He illuminated life with eternity, so that rising from the dead, it would die no more. Life is dark when it is limited by time, while it slumbers, while it is ignorant, while it turns to evil. And he shows how life is illuminated, because eternity is given through the Gospel to believers with the preaching of the teacher of the nations. Ambrosiaster, Commentary On The Second Letter of Saint Paul To Timothy, Chapter 1 1 2 Tim 1.11 |
