The Clouds

Et ecce in nubibus coeli quasi Filius hominis veniebat... Tres sunt nubes: obscuritas in prophetis, profunditas in divinis consiliis, occulata et inaudita fecunditas virginitas. De nube prophetarum scriptum: Tenebrosa aqua in nubibus aeris. De nube consiliorum Dei legitur: Rorate, colei, desuper, et nubes pluant justum. And behold one coming in the clouds of heaven like a son of man... 1 There are three clouds: the obscurity of the prophets, the depths of the Divine counsels, and the hidden and unheard fecundity of virginity. It is written of the cloud of the prophets: 'Dark waters in the clouds of the air.' 2 Of the cloud of the Divine counsels we read: 'Give your dew, heaven, from above, and let the clouds rain justice.' 3 Of the cloud of virginity and the hiddeness of fecundity, the prophet says: 'On a light and shining cloud the Lord shall enter into Egypt.' 4 Well it is said, 'like a son of man' because in time he was the Son of Man but eternally the Son of God. He was not yet the Son of Man, but the coming of the Son of Man was so near, that here He was reckoned as the Son of Man.
