Κτίζεις, ὡς φασιν, ἐκκλησίαν ἐν Πηλπυσίῳ, λαμπρὰν μὲν τοῖς μηχανήμασι, πονηροῖς δὲ τοῖς ἐπιτηδεύμασι, χειροτονιῶν τιμήμασι, καὶ ἀδικίαις, καὶ ὕβρεσιν καὶ πενήτωμ ἐκπιεσμοῖς, καὶ πτωχικοῖς δαπανήμασιν, ὅπερ οὐδέν ἐστιν ἕτερον, ἤ οἰκοδμεῖν Σιὼν ἐν αἱμασι καὶ Ἰερουσαλὴμ ἐν ἀδικίαις. You are building, they say, a church in Pelusium, fair indeed in the eyes of builders, but on account of evil doing, simony and injustice and violence and the oppression of the needy and the fleecing of the poor, this is nothing but to build Sion in blood and Jerusalem in unrighteousness. 1 God, however, will have nothing to do with the sacrifice of the goods of others, for he who sacrifices a dog is cursed. 2 Stop, then, your building and your injustice lest you find that house made for God is your condemnation.
