Desiring Salvation

Ἐπεπόθησα τὸ σωτήριόν σου Κύριε καὶ ὁ νόμος σου μελέτη μού ἐστιν. Οἱ πολλοὶ τῶν ἀνθρώπων ἐπιποθοῦσι σωτηρίαν, ἀλλ' οὐ τὸ τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἀλλὰ τὸ σαρκὸς σωτήριον τὸ ἐν κόσμῳ. Ἔργον δέ ἐστιν ἐπιποθῆσαι τὸ τοῦ Θεοῦ Σωτήριον, ὥστε ἐν Θεῷ σωθῆναι, ἐν αὐτῷ ἀναπαύεσθαι, κληρονομῆναι τὰ ἅγια· τὸ γὰρ Σωτήριον τοῦ Θεοῦ τοῦτό ἐστιν ἡ αἰώνιος ζωή. Ἐὰν θέλῃς ἐπαναβῆναι τῷ λόγῳ, τὸ Σωτήριον τοῦ Θεοῦ ὁ Χριστός ἐστιν· Ἰησοῦς γὰρ ἐρμηνεύεται, Θεοῦ σωτηρία. Οὕτος ἡμῖν ἐπέμφθη. Ὁδὸς τοῦ ἐπιποθοῦντες τὸ Σωτήριον τοῦ Θεοῦ, τὸ τὸν νόμον εἶναι μελέτην τῷ ἐπιποθοῦντι, προαναφωνοῦντα τὴν δεῦρο αὐτοῦ ἄφιξιν. Νόμον δὲ ἐνταῦθα καλεῖ πᾶσαν τὴν παλαιὰν καὶ θείαν Γραφήν. I desired your salvation, O Lord, and your Law is my care. 1 Many men desire salvation, but not the salvation of God, but the salvation of the flesh, which is in the world. It is a labour to desire the salvation of God, that we be saved in God, resting in Him, in Him inheriting holy things, for the salvation of God is eternal life. If you wish to have a higher understanding here, the salvation of God is Christ, for the interpretation of the name of Jesus is the salvation of God. The One who was sent to us. The way of desiring the salvation of God is the desire for care for the Law, which foretells His coming to us. This here is what he calls the Law: the whole of the old Divine scriptures.
