Princes Of The World

Ἄρχοντες κατεδίωξαν με δωρεὰν, καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν λόγων σου ἐδειλίασεν ἡ καρδία μου, κ.τ.ἑ. Ἄρχοντας λέγει τοὺς κοσμοκράτορας τοῦ σκότους τούτου. Ἔρχεται γὰρ, φησιν, ὁ ἄρχων τοῦ κόσμου τούτου, καὶ ἐν ἐμοὶ εὑρίσκει οὐδέν.  Κόσμον δὲ λέγει οὐ τὸ ἐξ οὐρανοῦ καὶ γῆς σύστημα, ἀλλὰ τοὺς κοσμικὸν βίον βιοῦντας. Ὠριγένης, Εἰς Ψαλμους, Ψαλμος ΡΙΗ'

Princes have persecuted me freely, and because of your words my heart was fearful. 1 Princes he calls the rulers of this world of darkness. He says: 'He comes, the prince of this world, and in me he shall find nothing.' 2 The world he names is not that which is bound together with sky and sea, but those who live a worldly life.
