Leading Up The Mountain

Anselmus Laudunensis, Enarrationes In Matthaeum, Cap XVII

And He led them up the mountain... 1

Signifying those who shall be resurrected to glory, that is, those who shall ascend to heaven. Or 'up the mountain', that He might teach all who desire to see this grace not to be thrown down in base pleasures, but rather to be raised up to heavenly things. 'Our way of life is in the heavens.' 2 Therefore He leads them up, by which is signified the separation of the righteous from the wicked.

Anselm of Laon, Commentary On The Gospel of Saint Matthew, Chapter 17

2 Philip 3.20
