Περιέσχον με ὠδῖνες θανάτου καὶ χείμαρροι ἀνομίας ἐξετάραξάν με. Ἥ καὶ χείμαρροι ἀνομίας διὰ τὸ εις ἀνομίαν ἔρχεσθαι τοὺς μὴ γενναίως ὑφισταμένους πειρατήρια· καὶ μὴν ὠδῖνες θανάτου καὶ ᾅδου τὰ πρὸς θάνατον ἁμαρτήματα· οὐκοῦν καὶ χείμαρροι ἀνομίας ἐρεῖς τὰ ῥεύματα τῆς κακίας· καὶ θανάτου κακίας, τὰς πρακτικὰς ἁμαρτίας. 'The sorrows of death and the floods of iniquity came over me.'1 The torrents of iniquity on account of those who turn to iniquity because they are not able to endure trials; and the sorrows of death and hell are the mortal sins.
