Δριμέως ζητεῖς τὰ νοήματα. Καὶ τίς σοι ἀρκέσει ἀμέλγοντι, εἰ μὴ Θεὸς παράσχοι λόγον τῷ σκοπῷ σου συντρέχοντα; Αἱ πέτραι ἐν τῷ πάθει τῷ Κυριακῷ διεθρὺβησαν, καὶ τὰ μνήματα πρὸς μεθοδείαν σωμάτων ἐτρόμαζον, τῶν ἐπιγείων καὶ ὑπογείων Δεσπότην σημαίνοντα τὸν ἠλούμενον.

Keenly you seek the meaning. And who shall please you by squeezing it out, if not God who will provide sense to your swaying vision? The stones, then, which split during the Lord's passion, and the tombs which shook open for the wandering of bodies, 1 signify the piercing of the Lord of the things on the earth and under the earth.
