Knowing All Things

Ἀγχίνους ὤν, καὶ συνετῶς ἐρευνῶν, οὐδεν δύνασαι ἀγνοεῖν, πάντα γὰρ καλῶς ἀθροίσας ἐν νεότητι, ἔχεις ἐν γήρει ἀνάπαυσιν. Τὸ ἀνακτέργαστόν μου εἴδοσαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοί σου. Τὸ μήπω πραχθέν μοι, φησὶν ὁ Ἀδὰμ, ὡς ἤδη τελεσθὲν καθορᾷς. Καὶ τοὺς τέως μὴ τεχθέντας, ὡς ἤδη τεχθέντας ἐπίστασαι. Δύναται δὲ νοῆσαι καὶ διχῶς· Τὸ ἄκακον καὶ ἀπόνήρον καὶ ἀνεξέργαστόν μου ἔργον γὰρ ἡ περίνοια λέγεσθαι φιλεῖ εἰδοσαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοί σου, καὶ ἐπὶ τῷ βιβλίῷ σου πάντες γραφήσονται. Καὶ οὐκ ἔστι, φησὶν, ὂ μὴ συνιεῖς, ἤ λανθάνει σε· ἀλλὰ καὶ τὰ μέλλοντα γινώσκεις, καὶ τὸ ἄκακόν μου οἴδας, ὅπως ἀγνοίᾳ ἠπάτημαι, καὶ τῷ ἀλήστῳ τῆς μνήμης σου πάντες οἱ λογισμοί μου ἐνσημαίνονται. Being of acute understanding and having an inquiring mind nothing shall be able to be unknown, for everything gathered in youth you shall have for your rest in old age. It says, 'Your eyes have seen my imcompleteness.' 1 That which I have not yet done, says Adam, you perceive as a thing done. And those things which are not yet conceived you know as if they have been brought into the light. But this is able to be understood in a different way.
